Jim Thompson was an American businessman and founder of the Thai silk and textile company in the 1950’s. He was also a former U.S. military intelligence officer.
On March 26, Easter Sunday 1967, he left his guesthouse in Malaysia’s Cameron Highlands for early evening pre-dinner stroll and vanished without a trace. His body has never been found. His disappearance is still a mystery till today.
But the memory of him still lives and there are many shops all over Thailand under his name selling high quality products.
I was in Thailand recently and brought back some (only 6 pieces) of Jim Thompson’s canvas tote bags and have put them up for sale in my blogshop at affordable prices.

Although not many, but a Jim Thompson bag certainly means a lot in reliving the memory of his devotion in reviving the silk and textile industry in Thailand which was once lost.
